Conservation Areas
Townsend Wildlife Area
Located 6 miles south of Lowden on County Road Y-14 (Herbert Hoover
Highway), this 118 acre forest area is open to public hunting.  Hiking is
encouraged when hunting seasons are closed.  A federal Cost Share grant
under the Land and Water Conservation Program provided for one-half of
the purchase of this area.  The Iowa DNR owns a 60 acre tract of public
hunting ground across the road from this area.
